A Mario Maker Music Video Experiment

Do you know the connection between The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon? If you turn down the sound on The Wizard of Oz and instead use Dark Side of The Moon as the soundtrack, it syncs up perfectly. It’s eerie.

I’ve been off and on trying to teach myself Unity (as well as a few other game-making platforms) with the intention of making games that could act as companions to songs.

It hasn’t been going great.

Then along came Mario Maker! Holy shit! This is amazing!

I decided to take one of my songs and design a level around it. Since you can’t add your own (original, recorded) soundtracks to the levels you make, the only way to experience it as I intend is the Oz/Floyd model.

So now I’d like to present to you my first Mario Maker Music Video experiment: With No Bullshit.

The level takes 5 minutes to complete.
1. Turn off all the lights.
2. Get comfortable.
3. Think about the people in your life that you love.
4. Bring up the level.
5. Hover your mouse over the song above.
6. Take a deep breath.
7. Hit “play” and “start” at exactly the same time.
8. If you die, don’t worry. We’re all going to die someday. Simply start the level and the song over.

If you’d like to keep up with other levels I’m releasing, as well as an album I’m dropping in January, signup for my email list: http://tinyletter.com/jonathanmann
